Noble Group joined a growing list of overseas organisations to host representatives of the Greek shipping community at a reception in Athens last week.

Nigel Herdman was on hand from the group’s London office, along with Michael Nagler and Aris Bachos from Noble Chartering in Hong Kong, to welcome both owners and chartering managers from Greek companies.

The group has gone through some testing times this year but the event was targeted at showing the continued presence and activity of its chartering arm.

The turn-out was indicative of the long-standing and ongoing relationship of Noble with the Greek community and included owners such as Haralambos Fafalios, normally London-based, who is also chairman of the Greek Shipping Co-operation Committee (GSCC), Dinos Caroussis of Chios Navigation, Adam Polemis of New Shipping and John Skordias of Chandris, to name a few.

Naturally, shipping market conditions and politics were high on the order of conversational topics but so were friendly reminiscences as guests mingled and enjoyed finger food and a relaxing drink.
